Organize your Closet, Incorporate new pieces, Have fun! Own It!

Here are a few tips to spring into action and feel great all summer long!
1. Color your wardrobe happy with bright & bold colors! Prints are in, so are bold bright colors like yellow, blue, pink and coral!
2. Incorporate a Few New Key Trend Items. Update your closet with a romper, jumpsuit, wide leg pant or shirtdress. Try and look for items that will last longer than one season or will transition well.
3. Eye for Detail. Looking for a little spark or more 'tude to your look? The details and finishing touches will add more interest to your ensemble; this could be belts, jewels or buttons. Top it off with a new clutch, shoe or glasses.
4. Organize - Clean out your closet! I have a hard rule, for every new piece I bring in, I have to get rid of two. (yes two!) Bring a girlfriend in to help with some tough love. Out with the old, in with the new.
5. Update Signature Pieces. Give your favorite blazer an update or replace it with a new one. Take items to a tailor or seamstress, or make necessary repairs or upgrades yourself. Keep your wardrobe as xciting as you are!
6. Create A Pinterest Board. Pin, repost and follow designs you like. These can be inspirational for your look. You don't need to copy the look from head-to-toe, but use style you can incorporate into your personal style; daring blouses or killer heels.
7. Find new versatile pieces to incorporate. Be it a new LBD (little black dress), or wide-legged pants, or maybe a pencil thin skirt. Show off your legs with a shirtdress.
8. Accessorize to maximize. Curate your look/style with accessories. Find what works for you; jazz up your regular ensembles or with a casual look.
9. Update your Foundation (we don't mean make-up here). Maybe its time to replace those undergarments (bras and panties and such) with new, not only for sex appeal but for a better fit and feel. If you don't have any shapers in your closet maybe its time you added one or two to accent your silhouette.
10. Forget the Size, Pay Attention to the Fit. Confidence & Comfort. Try on looks you've always wanted or liked and see how they feel. Also, don't worry about sizing so much now, since many manufacturers have vanity sizing. What's important is your confidence and comfort. What you feel good in will show in your overall appearance and confidence.
11. Know your Fit. Retailers carry different brands and no two manufacturers are alike, at least when it comes to sizing. Knowing which brands are more junior cut, missy cut or true to size, this is critical. Know your retailers so you can navigate your way with ease, this comes in handy when you're in a hurry and need a new look for tonight.
12. Know your measurements. when's the last time you had your measurements professionally taken? If its been a few years, or even if you've gained or lost weight. This is also beneficial to know if you shop online.
13. Have fun! fun with shopping don't be lazy about it. Play around with new makeup looks, colors, products and hairstyles. Go out with a friend, to get honest opinions and create new looks.
Own it!

Womens History Month: Bettie Page, Queen of Pin Ups

As most of you know this month is about appreciating and remembering some of the most well known women in history. Being that I work in the lingerie business, I felt that I needed to take a moment and talk about one of the most iconic American women in history that appreciated all things leather and lace. Mainly known for her long black hair and bangs, her openness to bondage, and her dynamic personality, southern belle Bettie Page in my opinion, was a very honest individual that seemed to be a part of an underground pin-up scene. Many have marked her as "The Queen of Pin-Ups and Bondage".
Her ever growing modeling popularity started in the 1940's and eventually she was featured as a Playboy Playmate in Playboy's January issue in 1955. Though standing at only 5'5"she drew in the attention of millions, with countless songs created around her name, and well known artists drawing her image and curves. This Nashville native with her sense of an edgy and sexy style led her to become legendary.
Though her personal life was chaotic at times, she was also a very intelligent woman who
originally attended college to become a school teacher. Once there she had aspirations to act and went on to be featured in a few films and fell into modeling. A former friend and police officer helped create her infamous look with black bangs, and took some of her very first professional photos. Later in her life she decided to follow her religion and went back to study in a few different Christian colleges hoping to become a missionary. Though never being able to do so she helped many people around her and started living a quite life away from the tabloids in magazines.
I was upset to hear of her passing on December 11th in 2008. She was 85 and sources say she passed of pneumonia, which she battled for only a number of days.
She has made her imprint on my life personally with her spunky attitude and unique style! Bettie's birthday is right around the corner in April on the 22nd, and in remembrance of her for women's history month please take the time to do your own personal research on who she was.
Be your own unique kind of beautiful.
Bettie Page surely was...

At Xcite our mission is to help couples keep the spark alive in their relationship. We have lots of ways to help you sparkle and shine this holiday season and well into the new  year. (And it's not just about the material things.) From sequence dresses and rhinestone lingerie to dressy shoes and rhinestone necklaces, anklets, bracelets and earrings, you'll be sure to fill any stocking.
At first thought most people get frustrated when embarking on the road to gift giving. Often times, if you spend a few minutes thinking about your significant other, or a family member or friend, you can think of several ideas to fit their personality. Some people are easier to shop for than others. You'd be surprised some of the ideas you'll come up with as you recall comments your significant other or friend may have dropped. Sometimes it helps to bounce ideas off a friend or co-worker.
If you don't over think it, you can come up with many great surprises for gifts that will be just right.
It's usually just a matter investing a little time and thought into your gift giving this will really make an impact.
It's the Little Moments that mean the most.
In relationships, keeping the spark alive can be something as simple as surprising your significant other with a massage. Light some candles, put down some rose petals, turn the lights down and turn on the music then relax or invigorate with a silky massage oil.
Keep things fun with a new game or bedroom costume for role playing. What happens at Xcite, stays at Xcite. No one has to know. Feel free to let the wild side out.

Warm Up with Sexy

At first sight, one might think you'd be chilly in a sexy babydoll or a lacy 3-piece garter set on a winters night. However, after layering on stay-up thigh-highs to compliment your babydoll flyaway or satin robe set, complete the ensemble with sultry make-up, shimmering stones and sexy stilettos, your hormones are already warmed up with anticipation for datenight.

Try something new for datenight or just surprise him (reward him for being naughty or nice, we don't judge) with a surprise mini-datenight or call him home for an afternoon delight. Spice it up with pheromone spray, a massage or dress up - something he'll remember. Don't forget fashionable eyelashes or a wig for fun.

We keep a plethora of costumes year-round for impromptu playdates.
Also, for staying warm we offer leg warmers, boots and sexy or fun hosiery.

Intoxicating...Animal Magnetism (Pheromones)

Are you aware there are alarm pheromones, food trail pheromones, sex pheromones and many others that affect behavior or physiology. A pheromone, from Ancient Greek phero "to bear" and hormone, is a secreted or excreted chemical factor that triggers a social response in members of the same species.
A sexy little secret.  Pheromones are chemicals capable of acting outside the body of the secreting individual to impact the behavior of the receiving individual. For example: Releaser pheromones are pheromones that cause an alteration in the behavior of the recipient. Some organisms use powerful attractant molecules to attract mates from a distance of two miles or more. In general, this type of pheromone elicits a rapid response, but is quickly degraded. In contract, a primer pheromone has a slower onset and longer duration. For example, rabbit mothers, release mammary pheromones that trigger immediate nursing behavior by their babies.
Primer pheromones trigger a a change of developmental events, in which they differ form all the other pheromones, which trigger a change in behavior. Laid down in the environment, territorial pheromones mark the boundaries and identity of an organism's territory. In cats and dogs, these hormones are present in urine, which they deposit on landmarks serving to mark the perimeter of the claimed territory.
In animals, sex pheromones indicate the availability of the female for breeding. Male animals may also emit pheromones that convey information about their species and genotype.

One popular pheromone (enhancer we carry); is Body Dew; an exciting upgraded formula is made with rich emollients for soft, supple, sexy skin. Replenishes moisture, leaving your body soft, radiant and irresistible to the touch. An intoxicating scent to invigorate your playful side. A sweet-as-sugar indulgence to tickle any confectionary fantasy. Luscious island cane sugar mingles with dreamy butter cream and Madagascar vanilla bean to release the memory of freshly frosted cake. Great to use on body art tattoos to keep colors rich. May also be used in bath water to create a sensual spa oil bath. Soy bean oil combats wrinkles and uneven skin tone, and provides antioxidant, protein moisturizing and healing properties. Safflower seed oil offers skin conditioning, prevents dryness and moisturizes. Sweet almond oil improves your complexion, with an emollient to soften and smooth skin and a fast absorption oil to balance skin and retain moisture. Vitamin A provides rejuvenating, anti-aging, antioxidant, and moisturizing properties while it improves elasticity. Vitamin E softens, hydrates, and oxygenates skin, enhances complexion, facilitates healing of scars, and reduces appearance of stretch marks, wrinkles and fine lines. Pheromone attractant enhances sex appeal. Body oil is paraben-free, sugar-free and sulfate-free. Come see for yourself!

Cinch Up Your Corset

History & Uses of the Corset
Once only thought of as a woman's tightly cinched garment to hold and shape her body. Both men and women were known to wear corsets, however, mostly women were common wearers. In recent years, the fashion industry has borrowed the term "corset" to refer to tops to varying degrees, mimic the look of traditional corsets without actually acting as them. Modern corsets often feature lacing or boning and imitate a historical style, today they have little effect on the shape of the wearer's body.
The most common and well known use for corsets is to slim the body and make it conform to a fashionable silhouette. For women this most frequently emphasizes a curvy figure by reducing the waist and exaggerating the bust and the hips. For men, corsets has been customarily used to slim the figure.
An "overbust corset" encloses the torso, extending from just under the arms toward the hips. The "underbust corset" begins just under the breasts and extends down toward the hips. A "longline corset", either under or overbust, extends past the iliac crest, or the hip bone. A longline corset is ideal for those who want increased stability, have longer torsos or want to smooth out their hips. A "standard" length corset will stop short of the iliac crest and is ideal for those who want increased flexibility or have a shorter torso. Some corsets, in very rare instances, reach the knees. A shorter kind of corset, which covers the waist area (from low on the ribs to just above the hips), is called a waist cincher. A corset may also include garters to hold up stockings (alternatively a separate garter belt may be worn for that).
The original corset cover was worn under the corset to provide a layer between it and the body. Corsets were not worn next to the skin, possibly due to difficulties with laundering these items during the 19th century, as they had steel boning and metal eyelets which would rust. The corset cover was in the form of a light chemise, made from cotton lawn or silk. Modern corset wearers also wear corset liners for many of the same reasons, but tight-lacers also use them to prevent rope burn from the corset's laces.
Medical
People with spinal problems, such as scoliosis, or with internal injuries may be fitted with a form of corset to immobilize and protect the torso. Andy Warhol was shot in 1968 and never fully recovered; he wore a corset for the rest of his life.
Aside from fashion and medical uses, corsets are also used in sexual fetishism, most notably in BDSM activities. In BDSM, a submissive can be forced to wear a corset which would be laced very tight and give some degree of restriction to the wearer. A dominant can also wear a corset, often black, but for entirely different reasons, such as aesthetics.
Construction
Corsets are typically constructed of a flexible material (like cloth, particularly coutil, or leather) stiffened with boning (also called ribs or stays) inserted into channels in the cloth or leather. In the 19th century, bones of whale were favoured for the boning. Plastic is now the most commonly used material for lightweight, faux corsets and the majority of poor quality corsets. Spring and/or spiral steel is preferred for stronger, and generally better quality, corsets. Other materials used for boning have included ivory, wood, and cane. (By contrast, a girdle is usually made of elasticized fabric, without boning.)
Corsets are held together by lacing, usually (though not always) at the back. Tightening or loosening the lacing produces corresponding changes in the firmness of the corset. Depending on the desired effect and time period, corsets can be laced from the top down, from the bottom up, or both up from the bottom and down from the top, using two laces that meet in the middle. In the Victorian heyday of corsets, a well-to-do woman's corset laces would be tightened by her maid, and a gentleman's by his valet. However, Victorian corsets also had a buttoned or hooked front opening called a busk. If the corset was worn loosely, it was possible to leave the lacing as adjusted and take the corset on and off using the front opening (if the corset is worn snugly, this method will damage the busk if the lacing is not significantly loosened beforehand). Self-lacing is also incredibly difficult with tightlacing - also called waist training - which strives for the utmost possible reduction of the waist. Corset and bodice lacing became a mark of class, front laced bodices being worn by women who could not afford servants.
Come in and Cinch yourself in a Corset today. We have  many styles and colours to choose from. We look forward to seeing you!
